Not that long ago I was listening to the audiobook of Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind by Shunryu Suzuki (read by Peter Coyote)—it is a classic. The small book introduces the practice of Zen into daily life. I read somewhere it might be the only book one needs on the subject.
In it, Suzuki talks about Posture, Breathing, Studying Yourself, Limiting Activity, Right Effort, Calmness, Mind Waves, Mind Weeds & more. The chapters are taken from his lectures, many of them archived here.
One does not have to go to a mountain top to practice, he says. If you try to do zazen once a week that will make you busy enough.
